Presidents Report

We had great weather to commence our Vets tournaments at Keysborough Golf Club for 2023 with the course in fantastic condition, and the members thanked the Club for their hospitality at the Presentation.

The well organized shotgun start by Captain Jeff saw 68 golfers on the tees for a 7.30am hit off.  We had 6 guests in the field who enjoyed the tournament and now have joined the Vets, welcome to Don Thomson, Peter Frost, Angelo Mercuri, Russel Montgomery, David Shutler and Alan Grisdale.

The members were informed that the VVGA 4BBB championship will be held in Hamilton on March 20th and 21st at the Hamilton Club. Entry is $70 for the two day tournament plus personal expenses. We have Laurie Comerford interested in playing and is looking for a partner for the tournament.  If you wish to participate contact Laurie .

Our next tournament is at the Waverley Course in Bergins Road with a two tee start, with the club providing a hot meal on completion. We will be conducting our 2022 AGM during the presentation with all CoM positions being declared vacant. We are looking for members to embrace the challenge to stand for a position especially in the Marketing area as Daryl Edwards is definitely not standing after 11 years service which the club has greatly appreciated.

The CoM have a working sub committee looking into the Club website with the view of updating the facility.

Members please note that the next tournament at Waverley Course on the 6th of February will include the AGM.

Effective management

Feeling it was time for a shakeup, a company hired a new CEO. The new boss was determined to rid the company of all slackers.
joke202301 not foundOn a tour of the facilities, the CEO noticed a man leaning against the equipment and appearing to have no work in mind. The room was full of workers and here was his chance to let them know that he would not tolerate slackers. He asked the man, "How much money do you make a week?"
A little surprised, the man looked at him and said, "I make $400 a week. Why?"
The CEO said, "Wait right here."
He walked back to his office, came back in two minutes, and handed the man $1,600 in cash and said, "Here's four weeks' pay. Now GET OUT and don't come back."
Feeling pretty good about himself the CEO looked around the room and asked, "Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-ball did here?"
From across the room a voice said, "Sure - he was the Pizza delivery guy from Domino's and was just waiting to collect the money."
